xale_d11:40pm: It's that time again
AnimeUSA is almost upon us once again.

Now that that's out of the way, y'all should come out and see this thing. It's a hell of a show, and we've got something for almost everyone. We've got some awesome DJs, some cool programming, dealers for everything from Steampunk to Anime to things that blink. We've got RPGs, CCG, TCG, Board games and Video games. We've got bands like the super awesome Clockwork Dolls, and so much more.

We've got stuff for the whole family, from wee-little to Adult. Come on out and join the insanity.

Did I mention I'm the Evil Overlord of this thing? Yeah, that's how awesome it is.

ausa_tiamat10:25pm: Looking for photos...of our panel
Yeah, trying to work on a project for the "What NOT To Say To A Female Otaku" panel when I hit a snag.  I REALLY don't have any pictures of it.  Hmmm...must try to fix this.  So if anybody out there has photos from the panel from over the years and would be kind enough to share them with me, I would really appreciate it!

Thank you!

android17rr4:59pm: Major Wig Help Needed
Major helpe i need for another shoot i'm doing.

Basically my commisioner mailed very badly and i did not recieve my commisioned red wig and white coat in time. I know its the day before the con but i also know alot of characters hairs look alike and also know some cosplayers can make a wig in like 30 minutes.

I have a shoot Saturday at midnight. Does anybody have a red wig that looks similar to these examples i can borrow for the shoot or an old one they dont use that they can chop up and style and sell for cheap?

My cell is 804-67-8698 and i have unlimited txting. call me prince draco or jason. i had bad cell signal at katsu but hopefully my cell works better this year.

If anybody can let me borrow wig, i will love you forever, or if anybody can save me in anyway.

redneckotaku8:13pm: Some updates from the Con Chair
Nathan (Xale_D) wanted to get some updates out there about what has been going on in the few months after the con.

First of all, Registration is up and going. Go to our website at http://www.animeusa.org and hit on the registration button.

People frequently ask what makes Anime USA different from other conventions. I have given my thoughts on this and would like you to read this and pass it on to your friends. http://redneckotaku.livejournal.com/104194.html is the link to my thoughts on this.

Thirdly, the theme for this year is Steampunk. We will be making changes to the website and hopefully announcing our first guests soon.

Thanks for your patience and we can't wait to give you another great convention.

ieatedyourcooki10:48am: My First Con
My new years resolution for the past 5 years was to go to a con, so I am finally making it to AUSA this year.
I don't quite know what to expect except what my friends have told me (very little) and I'd like a little insight if that's alright.
(also, comm info doesn't say this type of post isn't allowed, but it does link to ausa forums for "other"... that's confusing. I hope this is ok)
As a twenty something first-time con-goer, do you have any tips? Thanks.

shinzakura8:35pm: Otaku Swap Festa Paradise!
Yes, it's back! The Otaku Swap Festa Paradise is coming back to Anime USA for another year! Time to clean out those closets and shelves!

What is the Otaku Swap Festa Paradise, you ask? Well....

Anyone who has been a fan for a while will tend to accumulate stuff they no longer use, or impulse purchases they came to regret. Whether it's manga that hasn't been read in years, a plushie you no longer want, or a model kit that you finally admit you're not going to build, make your con budget go a little farther by participating in the swap meet! The Swap Meet is meant to give our attendees an opportunity to trade their used merchandise for something better without the hassle of online auctions or shipping. Anything is welcome - anime DVDs, VHS tapes, manga, books, magazines, CDs, toys, posters, electronics, video games - anything. Please note that the Otaku Swap Festa is TRADE ONLY - there will be NO cash sales or exchange of money allowed.

So here's your chance to get rid of that item you no longer want, and get a new treasure in the process!

ausa_tiamat2:33pm: Cosplay related panels and workshops at Anime USA
The page for Cosplay panels & workshops is up on the AUSA site.  So if you want to do a cosplay related workshop or panel, let me know!  The deadline to sign-up is coming up!  Panels requiring any type of tech support (projectors, audio, cables, etc) need to be submitted by October 12.  Panels requiring logistical support (easels, easel boards, paper, pens, etc.) need to be submitted by October 19.  Panels not requiring any support need to be submitted by October 26.

www.animeusa.org/cospanels.php or contact me at cospanels@animeusa.org or just e-mail me directly at AUSA_Tiamat@yahoo.com or even PM on the AUSA forum.  VERY IMPORTANT:  If you e-mail me, PLEASE either lower your security or add my e-mail address to your "safe" list.  I need to be able to contact you!

We have several panels already signed up and I've already started working on the schedule.  Most of the time slots available fall on Fridays and Sunday.  (The Masquerade and other cosplay related events tend to take up most of Saturday.  So there aren't many time slots then.)  Again, please keep in mind this is my first year in charge of something like this and I will try to do my best at scheduling everything.  And don't worry if you do not get an immediate response.  I am not online 24 hours a day.  I will respond as soon as I can.

Some of the confirmed Panels/Workshops include:
Introduction to Basic Embroidery and Beading Techniques
Elitism in Cosplay
Cospaly Commissions: Consumer Eye View
Thrift Store Cosplay
Cosplay on a budget
Cosplay Etiquette

This is a tentative list and is subject to change.

If you want to do a panel or workshop you don't see on the list please get in touch with me.
